Pertamina EP?s business unit UBEP Sangasanga & Tarakan has managed to increase oil production to more than 9,200 bpd from the Sangasanga and Tarakan fields in East Kalimantan.
The achievement bolsters the business unit?s confident to meet the targeted production level of 10,000 bpd. ?We have to be optimistic that production can be further increased to 10,000 bpd. This year, UBEP Sangasanga & Tarakan plans to drill 20 wells, including 16 at the Sangasanga field and 4 at the Tarakan field,? said General Manager of UBEP Sangasanga & Tarakan Herutama Trikoranto.
Herutama said that the latest production achievement was a result of higher production at the Sangasanga field which rose to 8,468 bpd, and at the Tarakan Field reaching 808 bpd.
Pertamina EP acquired the Sangasanga field on October 15, 2008 following the termination of the TAC contract with PT Medco Energy. Production level at the time was around 3,900 bpd.
Production at the Sangasanga and Tarakan fields is targeted to further increase to 15,000 bpd in 2016.
