Total E&P Indonesie, the operator of the Mahakam block in East Kalimantan, said that gas production at the block reached 1.67 bcfd, while oil at 64,000 bpd, exceeding the 1.43 bcfd and 56,00 bopd target, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

?Production of 1.67 bcfd can be maintained until end of this year,? said Head of Media Relations at Total E&P Indonesie, Kristanto Hartadi on Wednesday.

He said that production of the block is relatively stable compared to last year although the company?s current contract is set to expire at the end of next year. The government has decided to transfer the operatorship of the block to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina after the current Mahakam block contract expires. ?Production is good because of (completion of) a number of projects including South Mahakam-3, Peciko-7B, Sisi Nubi-2B, and Bekapai Fase 2B,? Kristanto said.

He said that production next year is expected to remain stable. (*)
