Progress of Cilacap power plant project reaches 21%

Independent power producer PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P) said that construction progress of its 1x1,000 MW PLTU Cilacap coal-fired power plant project, which is a second phase expansion of an existing power plant in Central Java Province, has reached around 21 percent.
Director of Technique and Operation at S2P, Agus Nurwahyudi Soewarto, told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that the company is currently at the stage of carrying out civil works, expected to be concluded by the end of this year. He added that the plan is to install supporting towers for the boiler in October.
He said that the power plant will use technology from China.
S2P, which is 51 percent owned by PT Sumberenergi Sakti Prima (SSP) and 49 percent by PT Pembangkit Jawa-Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of PLN, officially started construction process of the PLTU project in October of last year. The project has been targeted to be completed in 2019.
A power purchase agreement for the project was signed on October 30 of 2015, and financial close was reached on September 19, 2016. Lenders for the US$1.39 billion project include Bank Rakyat Indonesia, China Development Bank, and Bank of China.
