State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina said Thursday that the progress of construction of a 267 km gas pipeline linking Gresik in East Java and Semarang in Central Java has reached 70 percent of the targeted works.

The company said in a statement that the 28-inch diameter pipeline passes through four regencies/mayoralties in Central and three regencies in East Java, and partly planted in the right of way (ROW) of state-owned railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia.

Pertamina through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Gas is developing the pipeline with a capacity of 500 mmscfd to help increase gas supply for industries along the route. In 2016-2018, the pipeline will obtain gas supply from Kangean and Husky at a volume of 30 mmscfd. Additional supply will come from Cepu?s Jembaran-Tiung Biru field and Cendana at a volume of 100 mmscfd, this portal reported previously. Pertagas previously said the project would be completed in the first quarter of this year.

A consortium led by IDX-listed construction and engineering firm PT Wijaya Karya Tbk has been assigned to carry out the EPC works.
