Construction progress of the Tangguh LNG expansion project, known as Train 3, has reached 7 percent for the offshore facility, and 3 percent for the onshore facility.

This was said by Agoes Sapto Raharjo, Head of Supervision and Acceleration of the Tangguh Train 3 Project at upstream authority SKK Migas, to Petromindo.com on Tuesday, but did not provide further details.

The Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua Province, operated by British energy giant BP, currently has two LNG trains, each with capacity of 3.8 million tons per annum. The company is developing a third 3.8 mtpa-capacity train in an expansion project known as Tangguh Train 3 project, which is targeted to start production in 2020.

The onshore LNG Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the project has been awarded to a consortium led by PT Tripatra, which teams up with Chiyoda, Saipem and Suluh Ardhi Engineering.

Meanwhile, the offshore GPF Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) has been awarded to PT Saipem Indonesia.
