Hundreds of protesting farmers continued to blockade the main road to coal mining firm PT Indominco Mandiri in East Kalimantan after a meeting Wednesday between representatives of the farmers and the company management team came into a deadlock, the local Kaltim Post daily said.

The paper said that the company declined to pay compensation for the farmers' rattan tree damaged by the company's operation. The Tenggarong Court last year ruled Indominco to pay around Rp 6.7 billion in compensation to the farmers. But Indominco said that it would appeal to a higher court.

The road blockade has disrupt the company's coal production.(*)
