Protesting villagers seize vehicles of East Kalimantan coal contractor

Protesting villagers in East Kalimantan seized two vehicles belonging to coal mining contractor PT Pama Persada amid dispute over land compensation, the local Kaltim Post daily reported.
Pama is the contractor of coal mining firm PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), which controls coal-mining site in Kutai Kertanegara regency, East Kalimantan.
The paper said that the people of Jonggon village in Loa Kulu had demanded a compensation because Pama conducted its coal mining activity in the villagers? land.
The villagers had been making the protest since early this month. The paper said that the protest had been relatively peaceful, with local police in sight.(*)
