South Kalimantan-based coal mining company PT Adaro Indonesia has filed a legal suit against another local company PT Cakung Permata Nusa (CPN) for illegally occupying its concession area in the province?s Tabalong regency, Banjarmasin Pos reported on Thursday.
The regency administration, however, criticized PT Adaro?s legal action, saying that the company had breached its promise.
Yusmi Anang, a senior official at the local administration, said that PT Adaro had decided to take a legal action as negotiations to settle the dispute out of the court did not work as expected. "That?s why the company takes the case to the court so that the dispute will not affect its operation," he was quoted as saying.
PT CPN, a local plantation company, has been accused of illegally occupying part of Adaro?s concession area. Adaro said that at least 200 hectares of concession areas have been illegally occupied by Adaro. (*)
