PT Arun NLG Co said it exported 118 ships (6.7 tons) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to different countries in 2000 despite the civil unrest in its home province of Aceh.
PT Arun's Vice President Director Hasan Saad told the press that the export volume was still below the target set at 120 ships in 2000.
According to Saad, the failure to reach the target was due to technical problem from buyers particularly in providing ships to bring the export commodity to their countries besides export cancellation of three ships of LNG to Japan and one ship to Korea.
The company which was awarded with the Sword of Honour (a token of appreciation on work safety) by the British Safety Council by the end of 2000 is expected to export 116 ships of LNG to different countries in the year 2001, Saad said.
With the award of Sword of Honour, he said, PT Arun is the first company in Indonesia, which received such a prestigious appreciation.(*)
