PT Asean Fertilizer asks gas supply from ExxonMobil

PT Asean Aceh Fertilizer has asked a natural gas supply of about 10 million cubic feet (MMCF) a day from ExxonMobil to enable it to start up its operation beginning this month.

?We have received the request and we still study to meet the demand,? said Harijanto, the spokesman for Pertamina?s production sharing management division.

He said that the 10 million cubic feet of gas will be part of the 60 million cubic feet of gas which would be allocated for PT Asean Fertilizer. He, however, said that the gas request could be only met after Exxon began the operation of its Cluster III gas field.

ExxonMobil Indonesia resumed its gas production in North Aceh in July after being closed for months due to security problem in the troubled province.

As the consequence, several companies, including the Asean Aceh Fertilizer plant, which relied on gas supply from the company, had also been forced to shut down their operation.(*)
