Amid increasingly tight competition in the power plant components and machinery business, PT Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) Asia plans to switch its business strategy by focusing on power plant maintenance, Kontan reported on Tuesday.
The paper quoted B&W Asia Sales Manager Kartika Suryawan as saying that the company has been supplying steam generation for power plants in Indonesia particularly coal-fired power plants for 30 years. But the company has not been able to sell new units in the past few years due to the tough competition from Chinese companies offering cheaper price.
As such, Kartika said that the company will switch focus on power plant maintenance as there are many aging plants in Indonesia. ?We also offer technology for waste power plant,? Kartika said.(*)
