PT BA to buy 1 million tons of coal in 2006

State-owned coal mining company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) will buy until one million tons of coal from other companies through trading this year. It will be almost twice of the 500,000 tons of coal it bought in 2005, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Tuesday edition.

Though the need to buy coal through trading has increased, the company has no plan to establish a special trading company, PTBA?s president director Ismet Harmaini said over the weekend.

?Not yet, the total is just 500,000 tons. If it is more bigger, later (we will consider it),? Ismet said.

For 2006, PT BA has set a production target of 10.5 million tons of coal, up from 9.6 million tons in 2005. (*)
