PT Badak NGL employees protest salary system

The employees of the giant natural gas producer PT Badak NGL Bontang in East Kalimantan have demanded a better working contract and salary system, but during a recent meeting with top company officials the employees made a walkout in protest against the management?s proposal.

The local Kaltim Post daily said Wednesday that the management proposal was not in line with earlier deal reached in Jakarta with the finance ministry.

?The walkout was made as a protest because we have been deeply disappointed by the management,? the paper quoted one of the employees as saying.

The paper, however, did not provide details or explanation whether the protest would lead to a general strike at the company.(*)
