PT Badak NGL launches its 5000th shipment

PT Badak Natural Gas Liquefaction (Badak NGL) is scheduled to launch the 5000th shipment of its LNG on Thursday (today) from its LNG plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan, marking the company?s success to fulfill most of the orders since its establishment in 1974 Kompas reported on Thursday.

The 5000th LNG cargo containing 120,000 cubic meter and worth about US$10 million will be shipped to Japan, one of the company?s main buyers.

Badak NGL, also known as Bontang LNG plant, produces about 22 million tons of LNG a year from its eight LNG trains (processing units). The company which is the largest LNG plant in the world exports its LNG to Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.

The company which is 55 percent owned by Pertamina; and the remaining owned by Vico, TotalFinaElf, Japanese buyers began its production with two trains during the early years of its operation. (*)
