Liquefied natural gas producer PT Badak NGL said that it would be too risky for the company to let other people to run its special port.

"It will be took risky. Not all vessels can enter the port ? If it is taken over, it will be very dangerous," company general manager Suhardi told the Kaltim Post daily.

Suhardi was responding to earlier report in the paper that the Speaker of the local House of Representatives urged the local Bontang administration to take over the Badak NGL port following the implementation of the regional autonomy law earlier this year to increase the administration revenue.

The regional autonomy law gives greater power to provinces and regencies to manage their own social and economic affairs. Many businesses have expressed concern over the various problems that might occur following the implementation of the regional autonomy law.(*)
