PT Berau Coal, local authority team up to protect environment

East Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Berau Coal has teamed up with the local Bapedalda environmental impact assessment agency to protect the local environment particularly the mangrove forest.

Head of the Berau Bapedalda Suparno was quoted by the Radar Kaltim daily as saying that the mangrove forest in the area had gradually deteriorated which also threatened the live of other local species dependable on the mangrove.

Suparno said that other related government agencies would also be involved in the special team to protect the local mangrove environment and avoid further destruction of the mangrove.(*)
