JSX-listed nickel miner PT International Nickel Indonesia (Inco) said that hundreds of its workers in Sorowako mine ended their 11-day strike on Sunday afternoon, the company official said.
The strike ended following a series of bipartite negotiations between the management and workers at the mine site, Incos?s spokesman Jannus Siahaan said.
He said workers agreed to resume work Monday (today) after management decided to fulfill their demands to provide production bonuses every quarter in 2008, give promotion priority to local workers and increase scholarship for workers? children to Rp2.5 billion (US$266,000) annually.
Earlier, Inco said that this year's production of 165 million pound of nickel in matte remained on track despite a strike at the Sorowako mine. (*)
