PT.Inco seeks to increase production capacity: Source

JSX-listed Sulawesi-based nickel miner PT. International Nickel Indonesia (PT. Inco) is seeking to substantially increase production within the next two years in order to take advantage of improving nickel price, a source said.

?Inco had been approaching then government to allow it to expand its nickel smelter and to increase production capacity from 150 million pounds annually to 200 million pounds in the next two years,? said the source. The source did not say whether the government had approved the company?s expansion plan.

PT.Inco?s management is not available for comment when contacted by Petromindo.Com.

PT. Inco is owned by Canadian nickel miner Inco Limited (58.73 percent), Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. of Japan (20.09 percent) and the public (21.18 percent). (alex)
