PT Inco to exceed production target

World No. 2 nickel producer Inco Ltd. said on Wednesday its PT Inco unit in Indonesia should produce around 150 million pounds of nickel this year after a better-than-expected performance.
"We are pretty confident about meeting or exceeding our design capacity," an Inco official said on a conference call after the company issued a third-quarter earnings warning.
PT Inco sets 2003 production target at 140 million pounds.
Inco said its PT Inco unit as well as its Thompson operation in Canada had put in robust production performances that would help to make up the shortfall in output from a recent strike at its large Sudbury, Ontario facility. (*)
