PT KA buys new train locomotives to boost coal transportation

State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api will buy six new train locomotives to boost coal transportation from PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam?s coal mining area in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra to coal terminal in Tarahan, Lampung.
With the new six locomotives, which were imported from the United States at total prices of about Rp 150 billion, the number of locomotives operated by the train operator?s unit in South Sumatra has increased to 33 units.
The company?s spokesman Basrawi said that he hoped with the operation of the new locomotives, PT KA?s target to transport 7.8 million tons of coal this year could be achieved.(*)
