PT Meppo-Gen builds new power plant in South Sumatra

PT Meppo-Gen, in cooperation with several companies including PT Meta Epsi, PT Pembangkit Jawa-Bali (PJB), PT Wijaya Unggul Sejahtera, and Portek International Singapore

officially began the construction of a combined cycled power plant in Muara Enim, South Sumatra on Saturday, Media Indonesia reported on Monday.

The ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of the construction of the power plant was also attended by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro and South Sumatra Governor Syahrial Oesman.

The power plant, which will have a capacity of 2 x 40 MW, is one of several power plants to be built in South Sumatra which is expected to become the main power supplier in Sumatra.

In his address during the ground breaking ceremony, the governor said that the electricity to be produced in the province would not only be linked to the Sumatra power transmission network but also the planned Sumatra-Java power grid. (*)
