PT Smelting to shut for maintenance in May: Report

PT Smelting will shut down for a whole month in May for a biannual maintenance, Dow Jones Newswires reported Thursday.
As a result, the company's copper output this year will decline to 210,000 metric tons, from 214,000 tons last year, the official was quoted as saying by the newswires.
The company's nameplate capacity is 200,000 tons/year.
PT Smelting exports 70% of its copper output, mainly to Southeast Asian countries, and to Japan.
Japan 's Mitsubishi Materials Corp. owns 60.5 percent in the company. PT Freeport Indonesia has a 25 percent stake, while Mitsubishi Corp. and Nippon Mining & Metals Co. hold 9.5 percent and 5 percent respectively. (*)
