State owned tin mining company PT Timah will develop a nickel mine in Bombana regency in Southeast Sulawesi as part of the company's expansion program, Neraca daily reported on Tuesday.
Bombana regent Atikurahman said in Kendari Monday that the tin mining company had been licensed to carry out a seismic survey on a 20,000 hectare area in the West Kabaena in the regency.
He said that the concession area awarded to PT Timah was estimated to hold between 5 to 7 billion cubic meters of nickel deposit. The tin mining company, he said, was also interested to mine marble deposits in the Kabaena district. (*)
