PTBA 9-month production slightly increases

JSX-listed state-owned coal producer PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) reported Thursday its coal production reached 6.73 million tons in the first nine-month of 2003, a 1.1 percent increase compared to last year?s corresponding period production of 6.65 million tons.
PTBA also reported that its coal sales volume slightly dropped by 1.1 percent to 7.09 million tons in the period from 7.17 million tons in the same period last year.
The company is optimistic that its production and sales will increase in the fourth quarter due to improved railway transportation.
PTBA operates two mining units located in Tanjung Enim (South Sumatra) and Sawah Lunto(West Sumatra). The company planned to produce around 10 million tonnes in 2003. (robert)
