South Sumatra based state coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam said on Wednesday that it had secured agreement with state power generating firm PLN?s subsidiary PT Indonesia Power to supply 6.2 million tons of coal to Suralaya power plant in Banten province in 2002.
? We have agreed that the price for the coal will be set at Rp.225, 000 per ton (US$=10,100), which reflects a significant increase than this year?s contractual price of Rp. 150,000 per ton,? said Ismet Harmaini, PTBA?s president.
PTBA is the coal largest supplier to Indonesia Power?s 3,000 MW coal fired power plant Suralaya. Indonesia Power?s coal requirement is about 9 million tons per annum.
In 2001, said Harmaini, PTBA?s coal production would be a little more than 10 million tons. (alex)
