State coal miner PT. Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) has asked for price increase for 2007 coal supply to Indonesia Power?s Suralaya power plant, an Indonesia Power official said as quoted by Investor Daily.
Suralaya GM Bambang Susianto said PTBA has asked for Rp.389,000 (US$=RP.9,070) per tonne for 2007 delivery, higher than last year?s price of Rp. 351, 700 per tonne for 2006 delivery. 2006 price settlement was reached in October.
PTBA is contracted to deliver some 6 million tonnes of coal this year. Bambang said PTBA blamed coal transport fee increase for the proposed price hike. He did not say when this year?s price settlement could be reached.
Indonesia Power needs around 10 million tonnes of coal each year to fire its 3,400-MW power plants. (*)
