State-owned coal mining company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) has signed a contract to sell 60,000 tons of coal to the 2x 660-MW- Tanjung Jati B power plant in Central Java at US$80 per ton.
PTBA?s president director Soekrisno said in Jakarta on Monday that the price agreed with Indonesian Power was the highest ever recorded by the company for the coal sold in the domestic market.
The price would be charged on coal supply for Tanjung Jati power plant for August delivery, he said, adding that the price of coal for the Tanjung Jati would be used as a benchmark for the future coal supply to Indonesia Power?s other plants including the Suralaya power plant.
He also said that PTBA might sell another 120,000 tons to Tanjung Jati B by year end.
PTBA?s coal sales are expected around 13 million tons this year (*)
