PTBA bids for BHP?s Maruway coal project

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) said it has submitted bid to acquire stake at BHP Billiton?s Maruway coking coal project in Central and East Kalimantan.

President Director Sukrisno said that the company submitted bidding on its own.

Reports said that a number of companies including PT Bumi Resources, PT Indika Energy, and PT Medco Mining had expressed interest to participate in the project.

BHP is currently evaluating whether to form joint venture to develop the project or to sell its entire stake. (godang)
