PTBA completes S. Sumatra power plant

IDX-listed coal giant PT Bukit Asam Tbk said it has completed construction of the 2x110 MW coal-fired power plant in South Sumatra.

The company said in a statement last week that the power plant is ready for commercial operation, pending interconnection with the South Sumatra electricity system, which is expected to be realized in the second quarter of this year.

PTBA said that the mine-mouth power plant will need about 1.4 million tons of coal per year, all of which would be supplied by the company.

The power plant, located near PTBA?s coal concession in Tanjung Enim, is being developed by the company which has a 59.7 percent shares in the project along with two other shareholders PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali (29.15 percent) and PT Navigat Innovative Indonesia (11.10 percent).
