PTBA delays coal export on transport disturbance

State coal mining firm PT.Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) has to delay shipment of 120,000 tonnes of coal for export market after a derailed train blocked its coal transportation for days.

CEO Sukrisno told reporters on Wednesday the that some 60,000 tonnes of coal destined for Japan buyers must be rescheduled for about a three weeks. He did not give the buyer?s name.

He, however, said that coal supply to Suralaya power plant in Banten was unaffected.

A train carrying papers derailed on Tanjung Enim-Kertapati line on Dec 29 2007, blocking coal train that carried coal from PTBAs Tanjung Enim mine in South Sumatra to Tarahan coal port in Lampung province.

Sukrisno said coal transportation has been back to normal since January 2, 2008.(godang)
