State coaminer PT. Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam expects coal transportation from its Tanjung Enim mine to Tarahan coal port in Lampung that were disrupted since December 18 due to railway trouble would get back to normal this week.

?Repairs are underway, and today state railway company PT. KAI will test the railway that are already repaired. Hopefully, normal transportation could resume sometime this week,? said production director Soekrisno on Wednesday.

Coal transportation to Tarahan stopped since last week after seven railway coaches derailed in a village in Ogan Komering Ulu regency (S. Sumatra).

Soekrisno, however, said that despite the trouble, coal stock at PT. Indonesia Power?s Suralaya Power plant in Banten province is still at sufficient level and the power plant?s operations would not be disrupted. ?Currently Suralaya?s stock is 600,000 tons, which is sufficient for tow weeks operations.

PTBA is PT. Indonesia Power?s major supplier, supplying more than 60 percent of Suralaya power plant?s 11 million tons of coal per annum requirement.

?The stock in Tarahan coal port is running thin at around 25,000 tons today,? said Soekrisno.

PT.KAI normally transports 25,000 tons per day of coal from Tajnung Enim to Tarahan. (alex/godang)
