State owned coal mining company PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) plans to acquire a high-calorie coal mine as part of the company?s program to further increase its high calorie coal reserves, Kontan reported on Thursday.
The newspaper reported that PTBA was considering acquiring a high calorie coal mine, but corporate secretary Joko Pramono refused to unveil the acquisition target. ?It can affect the negotiation process,? he said.
PTBA president director Milawarma said previously that the company was considering acquiring two coal mines in Kalimantan as part of the company?s plan to increase high-calorie coal reserves.
At present, PTBA owns coal reserves of about 7.3 billion tons in its coal mines in South Sumatra. About 6.3 billion tons are located in Muara Enim and the rest in Lahat. (*)
