IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) plans to develop solar power plants in South Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Riau provinces.
The company has participated in recent tender for solar power plant projects in the three provinces held by state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, and is currently waiting for the tender results. ?There are three locations (that the company is interested), namely North Sumatra, South Sumara, and Riau,? PTBA President Director Arviyan Arifin told Petromindo.com on Tuesday, adding that the planned projects, each has capacity of less than 30 MW.
He added that PTBA will also seek partners for the proposed projects. ?The selection of partners is still underway through a beauty contest,? he said.
Arviyan said that the company aims to develop skills outside coal-fired power plant development. PTBA, which has a number of solar power plant assets, is also planning to develop a number of other coal-fired power plant projects.
