IDX-listed coal mining company PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is seeking to export coal to Sri Lanka as part of efforts to grab new export markets, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted PTBA Corporate Secretary Adib Ubaidillah as saying that the company is also seeking to expand sales in new market of Cambodia.

?We are already in Cambodia but it (export volume) is still small. In addition, our marketing team is also trying to penetrate Sri Lanka,? he said.

PTBA exports parts of its coal production including to traditional markets of China, Taiwan, Japan, India and Malaysia. This year, the company plans to increase coal sales volume by 30 percent to 27.3 million tons from 20.76 million tons last year amid rising trend in the price of the commodity. The domestic market is expected to account for 58 percent of the sales volume target, with the export market the remainder. (*)
