PTBA H1 net profit increases by 79%

State coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) Tbk reported Tuesday that it booked unaudited net profit of Rp1.6 trillion (1 US$ = Rp 8,528) in the first half of 2011, increased 79% from the same period last year of Rp 901 billion.

PTBA sales revenue reached Rp5.12 trillion, an increase of 35% from the same period last year of Rp 3.79 trillion.

Operating expenses increased by 15% to Rp716 billion.

PTBA is targeting to sell 16.8 million tonnes of coal this year, or 23 percent increase compared to last year?s coal output. PTBA said that it will boost coal production from its East Kalimantan coal unit PT International Prima Coal (IPC), increase coal trade volume and, along with state-owned railway PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), increase coal transportation capacity to 13.6 million tonnes this year.
