PTBA H1 net soars on higher price, production

IDX-listed state coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) reported on Thursday that first semester 2009 net profit soared by 124 percent to Rp.1.6 trillion (US$=Rp.9,950) on higher selling price and higher production.

The company?s average coal selling price for the period increased by 55.7% to Rp.768, 000 per tonne and production also increased by 20 percent to 5.6 million tonnes (MT).

Coal sales was constant at 5.8 million tonnes with 1.6MT went to export market or down 27% compared to the last year?s same period.

The company targets to sell 13.5MT of coal this year or up 5.5% from last year?s sales. (alex)
