IDX-listed State coal mining firm PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) on Friday signed 5-year coal transportation deal with state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI)
Under the deal commencing 2017 KAI will transport a total of 130.1 million tonnes of PTBA?s coal from Tanjung Enim South Sumatra to Tarahan Port in Lampung and to Kertapati Jetty in South Sumatra.
This year KAI will transport 21.7 million tonnes of coal, ramping up to 30 million tonnes in 2020 and 2021.
The contract is modification of the 2009-2029 transportation contract with increased volume, PTBA said. The increased volume is in line with PTBA?s production growth projection to meet its long-term commitments, the company said.
KAI transport 17.7 million tonnes of PTBA?s coal in 2016; 14.7 million tonnes to Tarahan and 3 million tonnes to Kertapati.
Tarahan Port has three jetties; one can be berthed by capsize vessel with volume of 210,000 tonnes, one for panama size vessel and one barge jetty with capacity of 10,000 tonnes.
The company?s stockpile in Tarahan has combined capacity of 1 million tonnes.
