PTBA, Korea Resources sign cooperation on coal development

Tuesday, May 1 2007 - 05:22 AM WIB

State coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the development of coal resources with South Korean firm Korea Resources Corp.

PTBA’s CEO Sukrisno said that under the MoU, both companies would jointly develop the Serenti and Bangko mines in South Sumatra. But he did not provide further details.

Earlier, PTBA projected its coal sales to increase to 19 million tons in 2010, spurred by the increase in coal trading volume and production from new mines.

Sukrisno said in March this year that coal trading volume would rise to 2.5 million tons in 2010 from 1 million tons this year and an additional 2.5 million tons would be produced to supply the proposed Bangko Tengah minemouth power plant. (godang)
