State-owned coal producer PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) is on track to meet its 2010 target to sell 15.6-15.8 million tons (MT) of coal, the company?s officer told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday.

Corporate secretary Achmad Sudarto said that around 12-13 MT would be derived from its own mines in South Sumatra, 1.25 MT from its East Kalimantan coal unit PT International Prima Coal (IPC) and the remaining from its trading unit PT Bukit Asam Prima.

He also said that negotiation was in progress between the firm and state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) over the price of 2010 coal supplies to PLN's Bukit Asam 4x65 MW plant in South Sumatra and Tarahan 2x100 MW in Lampung.

?It looks like the new price will not increase but we expects it at least the same with last year?s,? he said.

The negotiation is expected to be concluded by the end of this month, he added.

Earlier, he said that the negotiation will be completed end of February. Sudarto also said PTBA was asking for 10 percent increase over last year?s price.

Under the long-term deal, PTBA will supply 1.1-1.2 million tons of coal to Bukit Asam and 750,000-800,000 tons to Tarahan in 2010.

Last year, PTBA charged Bukit Asam Rp 470,750 (US$=Rp.9, 020) per ton and Rp 525,000 per ton for Tarahan. (denny)
