IDX-coal giant PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) plans to build a new jetty in Prajen, South Sumatra, as part of efforts to increase its coal transportation capacity.
This was said by PTBA President Director Arviyan Arifin. ?If possible, (the new jetty) can be completed next year,? he told Petromindo.com recently.
He said that the new jetty project, with planned capacity of 15 tons, is currently at the stage of land acquisition process. He added, however, that the company is also considering other alternatives to boost its coal transportation capacity.
As has been previously reported, state-owned railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia has agreed to increase PTBA?s coal transport volume via railway this year to 21.70 million tons, compared to last year?s 17.72 million tons, respectively 18 million tons to be transported to the Tarahan Port and 3.7 million tons to the Kertapati Port. PTBA plans to increase coal production this year by more than 22 percent to 24 million tons.
