State owned electricity company PLN has admitted that the state-owned coal mining company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) has a better chance to win the 2x100 MW Banjarsari coal-fired power project in South Sumatra, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.
PLN's director for power generation and premier energy Ali Herman Ibrahim said in Jakarta Tuesday that based on the bids submitted by the bidders, PTBA was poised to win the project.
PTBA and PT Primanaya International are entering the pre-qualification process in the power project. In its bidding, PT BA offers to sell its power to PLN at between US$0.038 and US$0.039 per kWh, slightly lower than its competitor which offers to sell the power to PLN at US$0.039 per kWh.
Herman, however, said that PLN was still evaluating if PTBA had fulfilled all the administration requirements in its bidding. The construction of the Banjarsari power plant will cost about US$203 million. (*)
