State coal miner PT Tambang Batubabara Bukit Asam (PT BA) and state railway firm PT KAI had faced a deadlock in their negotiations on coal transportation, Kompas daily reported on Thursday.
PT KAI insisted that the coal mining firm pay it Rp45,000 (US$=Rp9,215) for transporting each ton of PT BA?s coal from Muara Enim in South Sumatra to Merak in Banten. Meanwhile, PTBA said it could pay to the railway firm Rp36,000 at the most.
PTBA said it wanted PT KAI to transport 8 million tons of coal annually from Muara Enim to Banten.
The two parties had submitted their case to the state minister of state enterprises. (*)
