PTBA Q1 net profit soars on higher price, sales volume

IDX-listed state coal mining firm PT.Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) reported on Tuesday that its first quarter 2009 net profit increased by 221 percent to Rp.920 billion (US$=Rp.10,900) due to increasing selling price and sales volume.
The company reported that its first quarter average domestic selling price rose by 79 percent to Rp.737,000 per tonne, while average export selling price increased by 61 percent to US$96 per tonne. Sales volume rose by 4 percent to 2.82 million tonnes.
The company said it targeted 2009 coal sales to increase by 13 percent to 14.5 million tonnes.(alex)
