PTBA Q1 sales volume up by 14%

Indonesia-listed state coal mining firm PT. Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) reported on Thursday that its first quarter 2010 sales volume increased by 14 percent compared to the same quarter of 2009 to 3.21 million tons.

The company reported that its first quarter average selling price declined by 32 percent to Rp 555,457 per ton.

The company said the drop in the realized coal prices resulted in a 23 percent drop in total revenues to Rp 1.78 trillion during the January-March period. The lower revenues also caused a 59 percent drop in net profits to Rp 373.03 billion in the period.

The company said it targeted coal sales to increase by 25 percent to 15.6 million tons this year. ?PTBA is on track to achieve 2010 coal sales target,? it said. (denny)
