PTBA raises prices 30% for Indonesia Power

State-controlled coal miner PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) raised prices for its coal supplies to PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

Publicly-listed PTBA said in a statement on Monday that it now sells its coal to Indonesia Power?s PLTU Suralaya power plant in Banten at Rp 351,700 (about US$38) a metric ton, a 29.2 percent increase from Rp 272,000 a ton in 2005.

PTBA has already sold 3.87 million tons to Indonesia Power in the first nine months of the year, and is forecasting sales of 5.1 million tons for the full year.

The new price is applicable retroactively from the beginning of the year, the company said. (Bodega)
