PTBA reports 11% increase in net earnings

State coal miner PT.Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA) reported on Wednesday a 11 percent increase in 2005 net earnings of Rp.469 billion (US$=Rp.9, 050) or Rp.210 per share compared to Rp. 421.4 billion in or Rp.197 per share in the previous year.

The company reported that the increase in net earnings came from increase in coal sales that amounted to Rp.3 trillion, up from Rp.2.6 trillion in the previous year.

PTBA sells more than 60 percent of its output to Indonesia Power?s 3,400-MW Suralaya power plant in Banten. The company operates a huge coal-mining complex in Muara Enim, South Sumatra. (alex)
