IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) has set a target for its coal-fired power plant in Banjarsari, Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra, to start operation in the first semester of 2014.

Construction of the 2x110 MW power plant has covered about 60 percent of the targeted works. ?We only have to complete the process of connection from the power plant to the relay station,? Corporate Secretary Joko Pramono told Petomindo.com over the weekend.

The power plant, located near PTBA?s coal concession in Tanjung Enim, is being developed by the company which has a 59.7 percent shares in the project along with two other shareholders PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali (29.15 percent) and PT Navigat Innovative Indonesia (11.10 percent).

The US$239 million investment power plant project will require coal supply of 1.4 million tons per year, to be fulfilled by PTBA.
