IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) saw its coal sales volume in the first-half of this year increased by 11 percent to 10.1 million tons compared to 9.03 million tons in the same January-June period of last year, Kontan reported on Tuesday.
Company Corporate Secretary Adib Ubaidillah was quoted by the paper as saying that export accounted for 40 percent of the sales volume, while the domestic market accounted for the other 60 percent.
?The higher sales volume is mostly due to improving railway transport,? he said.
State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia has completed the double track railway linking PTBA?s Tanjung Enim mine in South Sumatra and the Tarahan port in Lampung.
PTBA this year has set a coal sales volume target of 29.17 percent, a 51 percent jump from 19.1 million tons last year, the paper said. (*)
