PTBA?s net profit soars by 54%

The state-owned coal miner PT Bukit Asam Tbk reported on Tuesday that the company booked a 54 percent increase of net profit to Rp3.09 trillion in the 2011 from Rp2 trillion secured in previous year thanks to the increases of coal sales coupled with the better price of coal both in domestic and export markets.
President Director of Bukit Asam Milawarma said that the company?s coal sales increased 4 percent to 13.5 million tons of which 65 percent was supplied to domestic market and the remaining for export.
?Of the 13.5 million tons of coal sales, 12.9 million tons produced by Bukit Asam and its subsidiaries while some 0.9 million tons came from the third party,? he told the press conference.
He said that the price of coal sold in domestic market increased on average at 24 percent to Rp755,220 per ton from last year?s Rp612,366 per ton.
On the export market,one ton of coal was reaped a price of US$101.04 compared to last year's $67.50.
