PTBA sales volume up 6.6 percent

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) saw its coal sales volume in the January-September period of this year increased by 6.6 percent to 15.3 million tons compared to 14.35 million tons in the corresponding period of last year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted PTBA Corporate Secretary Adib Ubaidillah as saying that about half of the sales volume went to the domestic market, and another half to the export market.

He did not provide further details.

This portal reported previously that the company has set sales volume target of 29.17 million tons this year, up from 19.17 million tons last year.

PTBA has set production target of 25.75 million tons for this year, up 34 percent from last year?s 19.24 million tons. The company aims to increase production by about 25 percent next year as it seeks to capitalize on the rising trend in the price of the commodity. In the first eight months of this year, production reached only 11.3 million tons, or about 44 percent of the full-year target.(*)
